Kunming
Beautiful Kunming is known as the City of
Eternal Spring, with a temperate climate at an
altitude of 6200ft. Capital of Yunnan Province
it was founded during the Han nasty of 206 BC-
AD 220, but it became part of China only in the
13th century. Now an active commercial and
industrial centre, Kunming is also a gateway to
the south-western part of China and beyond. It
is an industrial city but with many beautiful
natural sites such as lakes, caves and
mountains, as well as the city's famous flowers
that bloom all year round.
