  • AIR BAGAN NEWS AND THE FUTURE

Air Bagan's Humanitarian Work

We would like to greet you in a very unique way. In fact, “Mingalabar” is a typical Myanmar traditional way of greeting, being interpreted in many ways. However, literally it means, “ May your day be auspicious”.

Right now, temporarily, the Journey may be bumpy, seatbelts may need to be tightened, especially when the weather is not favorable but Air Bagan is always ready to render its best services and willing to provide the needs of people in whatever situation. Against the backdrop of Cyclone Nargis , Air Bagan has witnessed its commitment to the humanitarian cause, and its contribution and activities have proven the fact that “ actions speck louder than words”.

Since the country was hit by Cyclone Nargis, Air Bagan team, like other organizations, is actively participating in humanitarian work for people who suffered.

Under Htoo Group of Companies, our mother company, we will spend at least USD 1 million on humanitarian work on people who suffered. Also we have contributed K1000 million to national campaign that would help the victims of Nargis Cyclone and rebuilding the effected area.

In Yangon, we help clearing roads blocked with big trees and lamp posts, using big machines such as cranes and trucks. Drinking water is distributed daily with 1500-gallons cars to Yangon townships and we help rebuilding schools. Food and beverages are provided to the volunteers working on the roads.

We take care of Bogalay region and have been sending relief team and trucks carrying supply of rice, cooking oil, medicine, drinking water, clothes and blankets and distributed to the victims directly. We set up mobile clinics with number of doctors providing much-needed medical assistance in the villages.

Most importantly, we are offering the public from both inside and outside of the country, who have difficulties sending aid to the affected regions, that we will carry the aid free of charge on our international and domestic flights, depending on available space on each flights.

On top of that, for the long term plan, Air Bagan has now raised its contributions from US$ 1 to US$ 2 from every international ticket sold and Myanmar Kyat 500 to 1000 from every domestic ticket sold for the relief and resettlement programs for Cyclone Nargis disaster. In deed, you have made the right choice of flying with us because of by doing so you have already contributed to the people in need. In fact, these good deeds simply reflect the essence/spirit of our traditional greeting- “Mingalabar”.
