Dawei Dawei is an ancient town and still retains the charm and dignity of one. Many of the townspeople are wealthy owners of fishing fleets, but they prefer to remain here rather than move to bigger places like Yangon. In Dawai, they continue to live the gracious, sweetly leisurely life of their forefathers.
HEHO Heho is the gateway to beautiful Inle Lake with its unique lifestyle, and the ancient pagoda complexes of Kekku, Indain and Taungto. There is also the Shwe Umin Cave Pagoda of Pindaya, a lovely little town with a lake in its centre and a flourishing craft industry of handmade paper and paper umbrellas. 
HOMALIN Set on the upper reaches of the beautiful Chindwin River, the biggest tributary to the Ayeyarwaddy, Homalin is the gateway to the remote North-western regions of the Upper Sagaing Division. Situated not far from the Indian border, the Chindwin Valley surrounding Homalin offers pristine nature, thick forests and beautiful scenery. 
Kalaymyo Kalay was once an ancient city with fortified walls, moats and gates. The town is set on a hill and surrounded by the spectacular scenery of the Chin Hills. In this mountainous land it is extremely difficult to travel by road, and flights to Kalay give an easier access to this beautiful region.
Kawthaung This town is at the very tip of the south of Myanmar, across the sea from the Thai town of Ranong. In the region there is a resort on an island, and many chances to discover underwater life. The Salon Island, named after the sea gypsies, is very near Kawthaung and has a beautiful beach.
KyaingTong Kyaington is another trade centre but as an old town, it has temples such as Wat Zom Khun and Wat In. Both have huge ancient Buddha images in halls where the red walls are covered with gilded scenes of the Buddha Life-stories. Trekking can be arranged through the hills where the Loi, Akha, Lahu, Lishaw, Palaung and Eng live. 
KYAUK PHYU Kyauk Phyu is now an important sea port and busy trade station. For the Rakhine people Kyauk Phyu is a place of Buddhist and cultural significance.Three miles southwest of Kyauk Phyu lies the Kyauk Talon Pagoda, meaning one rock, because Buddha images, shrine with tiered roofs, celestials and ogres were carved from one gigantic boulder. 
Lashio Lashio is a large trading town with a vibrant economy, and with numerous villages of Palaung, Akha, Pa O and Shan in the vicinity. The villagers regularly come to trade, wearing their beautiful costumes as they do every day. The old but beautifully maintained Temple of Kwan Yin is a landmark of this town.
MANDALAY This old royal capital is a mixture of the old and new; thriving businesses and up-scale shops within the old world charm of ancient pagodas, grand monasteries, quiet neighbourhoods, and vibrant literary, art and cultural communities. In spite of its modernity, Mandalay artisans take pride in working with traditional methods in weaving, carving and casting.
MONYWA Monywa has amazing pagodas such as the Thanboddhay, a large, beautifully decorated complex. A 424 ft high standing Buddha image and a 333 ft long reclining Buddha image are set on a high hill. Across the Chindwin River lie Po Win Taung and Shwe Ba Taung Cave Pagodas with beautiful old murals of the 17th century.
MYEIK The Myeik Archipelago is famous for its natural pearls, among them one weighing 845 carats, the biggest in the world. The sea gypsies, still living on boats, are the pearl divers. The cultured pearl industry here by now has gained a reputation high quality. The thousand Myeik islands are undiscovered, uninhabited paradise of wild life
Myitkyina This large sprawling town is the capital of the Kachin States, a centre for annual celebrations when the Kachin people dance at their Manaw feasts. Just 20 miles north of Myitkyina and deep in the jungles is the birthplace of the Ayeyarwaddy River, a place of majestic beauty. The colourful woven textiles of this region are famous.
NAY PYI TAW The capital city of Myanmar, Nay Pyi Taw is vibrant with progress, a city thoughtfully planned and established to utilise the best of the environment. A glorious new pagoda, well-designed government offices, a busy shopping mall, a park, high-end cinemas, an international-standard Zoo plus luxury hotels have made Nay Pyi Taw a capital city of grandeur
Nyaung U Nyaung U and Bagan lie within the plains where over two thousand ancient temples stand.Within Nyaung U's boundaries there are great pagados and temples sunch as the golden Shwezingon Pagoda and the immense stone temple of Kyauk Gu Umin.From Nyaung U, it is only a short ride to Bagan and more temples, great and small.
Pathein Pathein was once an ancient sea port and now a beautiful city. The sea has receded so Pathein no longer lies on its shores but instead on the banks of Pathein River. It is a charming centre of the network of river traffic that criss-crosses the delta. Rathein is very near to the Silver Beach and Chaung Thar.Capital city of Myanmar's delta region and gateway to Chaungtha and Ngwe Saung beach. Pathein is well known by its production of unique parasol locally called "Pathein Hti". Forty kilometers west of Pathein lies the beach resort of Chaungtha. Myanmar's latest beach resort Ngwe Saung has the longest shore 9 miles, bordered by tall, green palms. The long unspoilt beach of purest white sand and crystal clear blue water is one of the most beautiful spots in the world. Air Bagan operates regular flights to Pathein for tourists visiting Ngwe Saung.Ngwe SaungNgwe Saung in particular, the virgin sandy beach on the tropical Bay of Bengal, is a new discovery with nearby islands surrounded by fertile seas of tropical aquatic life. Diving, snorkelling, and sailing are all available for those who desire pursuit more active than watching local fishermen drag the morning’s catch onto the pristine sand.
Putao Putao is a lovely little town surrounded by ice capped peaks of the Himalayas.The highest mountain in SE Asia at 5889 metres, Mt.Hkakaborazi can be seen on clear days.The town has much to offer: colourful markets, spectacular scenery, the freshest fruits and vegetables, and the Malikha Lodge, a luxury spa by the Nam Lang River
Sittwe The jetty adjoins the fish market and every morning presents a scene of colour and liveliness. The black sand beach is a rarity in Myanmar as it is elsewhere. Taking a leisurely boat ride along the Kakadan River takes you to the ancient city of Mrauk Oo, with its ancient temples built with thick stone walls.                                                                                           
TACHILEIK Situated on the Thai border, Tachileik is a prosperous town but with a charm of its own. Its market is a wonderful place to browse. For day trips to see Thai culture, locals can obtain permits to cross into Thailand. As in all border towns, young people are untiringly busy at all times. 
Thandwe Thandwe is a pretty little town on the Rakhine coast but the main draw to visitors is Ngapali Beach. The sands are white, the ocean a deep turquoise under the brilliant golden sun. Numerous sea front luxury hotels, exquisite fine dining, excellent cocktails and the freshest sea food make Ngapali a holiday paradise.
